Forbidden.

He came just after I said
I do
To another man.
He was my favorite human.
And as I saw him walk and sit opposite table where we had our dinner
I knew he came to remind me
Of a scent I had forgotten

And on that night,
After dinner late
And he saw the last of his plate
Fade into the darkness

We held a little too close
Way too close to be friends
And our souls made love to each other
In a bed laced with poetry
We cuddled afterwards
Talked about the science of the souls
And the chemistry of love

But we knew we wouldn't  be together for long
At first light of day break
We would break and have to go back to our cold matrimonial beds
Back to our spouses
