LOUD AND OPINIONATED.

 For quite some time now,feminism has been largely misinterpreted .Women who come out as feminist are considered bitter ,mad and unable to accept the natural order box things and chauvinism. But that is it exactly! Why is  there a natural order that seeks to place men and women who attended the same classes and practical lessons at a disparity?What is the difference between a graduate civic engineer lady and gentleman? Why is it that a man would be send on field operation while a woman sits in the office answering calls and signing tons and tons of redundant paper work!Now you see why they are loud,they are vocal and opinionated. Who wants to feed on scraps of a profession under the dinner table while their male counterparts wine and dine basking in the glory of field operation.

Equality is recognizing that there are days the  work phone will ring and a woman will choose to pick up her sick or crying baby instead.It  does not make her any less professional. It is knowing that there are three days in a month that she will suffer from menstral cramps that make it impossible for her to attend to  the office .This makes her no less competent than her male colleagues. This means that a woman has areas she will fall short by nature.Putting this in consideration will ensure that both men and women especially in technical fields compete at par.

When women apply for degree courses and diploma in plumbing,carpentry, masonry,electrical engineering, woodwork,glasswork , civil engineering and technical drawing are well aware of what the job description pertains. I have heard of women locked out of opportunities because they can not lift the pipes in plumbing .With the changing technology that is making work easier,this sure shouldn't be a problem. In places where practice builds confidence,it is very unfare for women to be discriminated against. This causes them to stagnate in the same job group because they have very little experience hands on .Since time is of cardinal essence in the career ladder,they soon are cast into  the oblivion of irrelevance.

The next time you are invited to this class that subscribes to the school of thought that you have to sacrifice your career at the altar of love and marriage ,I hope you're courageous enough to cut the classes.If men can juggle between being a parent and satisfying career pursuits,so can women and no one should make you  conform to set rules.Be defiant and apologetically pursuant of your goals in life. Brace up .The universe needs us!
