Today.

 All I wanted was someone to be interested in my day.

I wanted to tell you what an amazing week it has been

 how much I am happy.

I wanted to tell them just how badly today began and how it ended.

I just wanted to be heard

To be seen 

To be felt.

I just wanted You.

But your head was elsewhere

It still is 

And you know the silent rule.

That silence too is an answer.

Over the weekend, we had a ravishing birthday party. I am storyteller at heart and everything is a story.  The gathering was predominantly adorned with the laughter and presence of women and girls, while the male host had only extended an invitation to a lone friend. This sparked introspection as I considered my own experiences, realizing that, aside from relatives, my father seemed to engage with very few individuals for more than a fleeting moment.
